  • Diane Sheppard Ph.D, L.Ac. - Clinic Director

    staffimgDr. Sheppard is a California state licensed acupuncturist and Chinese herbologist. She earned her Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine degree from the oldest school of Chinese medicine in the United States – Samra University, where she was Valedictorian of her class. She also holds a Ph.D in Eastern Medicine, and her doctoral thesis, Histoical Overview and Comparative Analysis of Contemporary Chinese, Japanese and Korean Traditional Medicine was given her University's awsard for Best Dissertation.

     

    staff_diane_img1Her background includes studying TaiChi Chuan and Qi Gong at the Taoist Institute for Internal Arts in Burbank, CA, under Dr. Carl Totton and Master John Bright-Fey along with studying other various martial arts and yoga.

     

    Diane also studied with Dr. Do Ann Kaneko and completed his program at the Shiatsu School of Massage, the Tao of Healing Arts, in Santa Monica CA in 1988.

     

    In 1990 she traveled to Beijing, China for training and certification in Tui-Na — Chinese massage therapy and orthopedic manipulation — at the Beijing International Center for Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine, while also working at the renowned Guan An Men Hospital, where she was honored with a special letter of recommendation. There she was fortunate to meet Qi Gong Master Jiao Gourui, and experience qi gong therapy from this famous teacher.

     

    staff_diane_img2While pursuing her advanced degrees in the United States, Diane returned to Beijing in 2005 where she again attended the Beijing International Center and received their coveted Certificate in Acupuncture. While there she worked in various hospitals that combined western and eastern medicine and studied with both her teacher, QiWei Zheng and his teacher, the venerable Chen XinNong, who was the main author of the foundational modern text on acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, written at the behest of Mao TseTung in the 1950's.

     

    staff_diane_img3Diane has also been on staff at Eisenhower Medical Center’s La Quinta facility. Many know her from the bi-monthly articles on TCM and health she writes for Desert Health News.

     

    Before founding AcQPoint, Dr. Sheppard maintained a private practice in Brentwood, California.

     

     

     

     

     

  • Gayle McGuire, RN, L.Ac.

    Gayle McGuire smallGayle McGuire, RN, L.Ac. is a California state licensed acupuncturist and Registered Nurse.  A Registered Nurse for over 30 years Gayle earned her Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine degree from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in San Diego in 2001 and is certified in NADA protocol (National Acupuncture Detox Association). 

    Her background includes studying Qi Gong and Breathing Meditation with Bill Helm who is a Daost Priest.  Gayle also studied with Lillian Bridges completing the program for Facial Diagnosis and Point Protocol for PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), as well as Posture for Pain Relief with Ester Gohkale and has attended essential oil seminars with Peter Holmes, L.Ac.,

    Gayle was associated wirthe Eisenhower Medical Center for 29 years and practiced auricular and full body acupuncture at the Betty Ford Center for over 10 years and specializes in chemical dependency and chronic pain.

  • Tracy Smith - Fascia & Muscle Stretch Physiologist

    staff_tracyTracy is a certified yoga and Pilates instructor, and FST level III, MST, RUIT stretch physiologist. Tracy offers the latest Fascia and muscle stretch Therapy. She has worked for years with athletes to increase sports performance and with physical therapists for rehabilitation. Tracy also does energy work including Integrative Energy Therapy and Reiki. She is also a spiritual Thought Coach.

     

     

     

  • Maribel Diaz - Medical Massage Therapist

    Maribel  12  years experienced Licensed & Certified Medical Manual Therapist Practitioner.

    She has studied Massage & Movement, works with Nerve entrapment & helps Reset the body's Posture.  Maribel puts together a Rehab program by combining all her knowledge and customizing the program for that individual thru Manual Therapy, teaching movement, exercises and Stretches to keep up with the maintenance at home.

    Her mission is to help those who suffer from chronic pain or a lack on mobility by putting together a program for each individual to help achieve & Regain optimal health to live a pain-free active life style.
